Gospel To Haiti

Gospel to Haiti’s mission is to reach souls that need to know about Jesus. We are working in the southern part of Haiti in an area called Allegre. Allegre can only be reached by traveling on a rugged and rocky trail that winds up, over, and around several mountains. Like the rest of the country, this area, has many needs both physical and spiritual. Witch doctors are a very real part of many lives but thanks to the blood of Jesus that changes hearts, the physical needs of the Christians are not as great as those in bondage to voodoo and witch doctors.
One of our main focuses is the schools. We work with eight schools. Our teachers are hired, native Christians. At the Allegre School we also supply the government required shoes, uniforms, books and a meal for these students. We have a sponsorship program for this school. At the other schools their parents are responsible for the expenses. Our purpose for the schools is to teach students about God through their daily school lessons, Bible classes, and Scripture memorization.
There is also a clinic in the Allegre area that cares for the physical needs of the people. Because there is very little medical help available for anyone, the clinic has been able to help many sick and the natives are very grateful for it. By showing compassion to them and their children in a natural way, it gives an opportunity to minister to their spiritual needs as well.
The Republic of Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. It shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. In the 1700’s Haiti was ruled by France, the French had some of the most prosperous spice and coffee plantations, in the Caribbean. They had slaves brought over from Africa to work for them. The slaves revolted and after a long fight, in 1804 Haiti became the first Negro republic. There is now a population of 8,660,000 on 10,695 square miles-or 797 persons per square mile. The United States has an average of 79 persons per square mile, WI 101, PA 270, WY 5, NY -407. Haiti is about ¼ the size of PA. Statistical sources vary but literacy is about 50%. Doctors for the country is around 2,000 or about 1 doctor for every 4,500 persons. The average life expectancy is 53 years. . One of our desires is to teach native pastors more truths in God’s Word,, This requires numerous pastors traveling to Haiti various times throughout the year, Teaching at Allegre and other outlying churches., The only way to reach these remote churches is by hiking several hours on narrow hilly trails, often using mules to carry supplies. What a privilege to teach those that want to learn more of our mighty God.
Our efforts in Haiti are focused on helping many to realize their need of Jesus. By the prayers and support of those that have interest in this effort, we are able to disciple pastors, help the sick, and teach in the schools. Through these avenues we are able to reach into lives that need Him.
