May Update-Stanley Hoover

Hello to each one of you !!

Here’s a little update of our past month here in Haiti. I’m not much of a writer but ill try my best Enjoy!! At the beginning of the month we weren’t extremely busy and not to much going in the clinic due to it being gardening season. Couple of days before my friend Daniel Weaver went home, he decided that he wanted to climb the mountain that has been long challenged by all the single guys that have been here !! So he convinced Me, Daniel, Abby, and Miranda to go with him. It was a very fun hike even though it was pretty gruesome. There were only trails like halfway up the mountain till it got to steep then there were no trails anymore. At the top the views were definitely worth the hike!!

Here’s the mountain behind the compound…..

Gotta say I’m amazed!! Climbing that steep mountain at 48 yrs old without stopping is very impressive!! Sorry Daniel had to put it on!! For those of you that don’t know this is Autumn’s dad.

On Easter Sunday we climbed up the little hill behind the compound, which we call the ( Grassy spot ) to have a sunrise service. At the top we laid out blankets and had coffee and snacks. As the sun was rising we read the Bible and sang songs of praise unto the Lord!!

Here’s one of the many baby’s that we’ve delivered in my time here… must of them went well and some not so well but we thank the Lord for them all!!

And here’s a little story of one of them that didn’t do so well…when this baby was born his heart rate was very slow and weak. The baby also wasn’t breathing. We started CPR right away and were giving rescue breaths. After about 15 mins of compressions the baby’s heart rate finally picked up but the baby was still not breathing on his own, we had to keep on giving rescue breaths for a whole hour until the baby finally started gasping for air on his own. We monitored the baby’s closely for awhile to make sure he doesn’t crash on us again. After a couple hours the baby’s was doing well but we kept them here at the clinic till the next day due to the complications we had when he was born… but sent them home the next day because the baby was doing well.

About a week later we got sad news that this baby had passed away !! We are unsure of what was the cause. Very sad and unfortunate but God always has a plan!!

On Saturday April 26th all the missionaries from Haiti gathered at MGM mission and had a bible study. I think they try and do this once a month. That afternoon we went to Jesse Myers place and spent the afternoon and the night there with there amazing family. Sunday we planned an all day trip to Kokoyé beach to celebrate Jesse’s daughter…Kate’s birthday.

Thanks to Carol Myer for the delicious food!! Gotta say this is by far the nicest beach I’ve ever been to amongst all of the ones I’ve went too.

And to close out the end of the month. We got slammed with 2 emergency trips to Fan de Blanc Hospital in 2 days. Thursday and Friday. And not to mention only getting 2 hours of sleep Thursday night because were had to deliver a baby!!! Fan de Blanc hospital is a 3 1/2 hour drive one way on very rough mountain trails. Even though I did 13 hours of driving in a total of 30 hours and barely any sleep… the scenery going to Fan de Blanc is very pretty. Which makes the trip a little bit more lovely!! Oh and not to mention the beautiful sunsets!! On the Thursday trip it was me and Loveda that went and then on Friday me, Loveda, and Miranda went in. We thank the Lord for keeping us safe and giving us strength on each trip!!

And that’s all I have folks!! Hope you’s enjoyed and God Bless!!
