Welcome to another update about the shenanigans we’ve been indulging in here in Haiti.
As I tried to think back and recall some juicy details of our life this last month I pulled a blank ,but thankfully I take pictures like I breathe so a quick scroll through my gallery tells me we’ve actually been quite active.
Beginning of last month has been really dry, which most people consider undesirable. I, however didn’t complain because it meant Jesse Myer from Ti Goave would come up quite often to haul water from our well to Rhonda’s cistern, very convenient for me because he’d bring doctor up and save me from my normal grueling Friday morning journey down the mountain to pick him up, all good deals for me.
Better yet,we’ve had a number of visitors
too! Stan Serena and Jacinda, who had served here previous years came down for about 10 days, with suitcases packed full of much needed supplies, and some unnecessary but very delicious treats for us, Stan was also able to bring me down a new phone which I was very thankful for because I had accidentally thrown mine across the room and broken it the first night I was here, and it had pretty much given up the ghost by the end of the first month.
While Stan was here he picked up my end at the clinic so I was able to focus on the shop work that had been adding up, we also went hiking down the riverbed on our second attempt to reach the big waterfall, and we shockingly actually made it this time and better yet,we did it without having to stitch up anyone!
The pictures don’t nearly do it justice, bit they give an idea, the last picture is Stan

standing under a giant pebble that fell into the valley, it was so big that it got wedged between the two mountains and created a lovely spot with the creek on the bottom and vibrant moss covered rock ceiling.
While Stan was here we also played a lot of disc golf, a sport which I got whooped in everytime but still found very enjoyable, especially the humorous trash talk that came along with it.
The last Saturday they we here we drove with the Myers about 2½ hours to a beautiful beach across the mountain from Ti Gauve for the day.
The trails were exceedingly treacherous and tho our brakes failed on the way back God kept watch over us and they waited to break till we were off the steep mountains, we did very nearly smoke a heavily overloaded moto tho and James received some hairy eyeballs for his incompetent driving ,tho there was absolutely nothing he could do about it because his mechanic(we won’t say any names)did a shabby job at keeping his machine in working order. I’m seeing more and more tho how we just need to do our best and God will do the rest! All glory goes to Him.
James took Stan and Jacinda to the airport in LA Cayes and then stayed there overnight then the next morning picked up Darwin, Steve, and my childhood friend Stanley, known as Scruffy here to avoid confusion with the multitude of other Stanley’s that this clinic has known.

Darwin and Steve were down for a week, Darwin baptized a group of youth last Sunday at missionary church, it was a beautiful thing and I left refreshed as well,it’s all refreshing to here a sermon that’s more than just gibberish
The new additions to God’s family.

for them as they continue their journey!
My friend Scruffy is down here with me till I go home, I’m very excited to have another guy here to journey with and help out, he got to do a lot of things his first week here including stitching! He does well in clinic and is already picking up some Creole
